Full job description

Home Energy Assessment & Upgrade Advisor

Location: Ashbourne, Meath (office-based, full-time)

Salary: €45,000–€60,000, commensurate with experience — SEAI-registered BER assessors and candidates with 3+ years' retrofit experience can expect to start at the upper end of this range

Closing date: 12th September 2026

About Us: Retrofit Energy Ireland (REIL) is a well-established energy solutions company based in Ashbourne, with a long-standing commitment to enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability across all sectors in Ireland. As we expand, our mission remains focused on transforming homes and spaces to be more energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and comfortable — contributing to a sustainable future.

Position: REIL, an SEAI-registered One Stop Shop, has a vacancy for a BER & Retrofit Advisor within our Home Energy Upgrades division. This is a desk-based, office role — not a site-assessment position. If you're a BER assessor looking to move off the road and into a stable, salaried role with pension and set hours, this is built for that transition: you'll put your BER and DEAP knowledge to work every day, without the inconsistent income of freelance assessing. Using a property's BER data (via DEAP and the National BER Research Tool) and our home upgrade software, you'll model potential retrofit measures, expected improvements in energy performance, and available upgrade pathways — then talk homeowners and professionals through those options during online consultations, along with grant eligibility under the relevant schemes. You'll support projects under the SEAI One Stop Shop scheme, Community Energy Grants, Better Energy Homes, the Vacant Property Refurbishment Grant, and other relevant schemes, and prepare clear, accurate handovers to our Quantity Surveying and Project Management teams to support delivery of the proposed works. A key part of the role is finding upgrade options that are grant-compliant while giving customers the best value and return on investment. On-site training is provided, along with ongoing support toward SEAI BER assessor registration for those who don't yet hold it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse BERs in line with current energy upgrade grant criteria
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with BER assessors as required
  • Identify and clarify potential solutions with homeowners during consultations
  • Highlight cost implications of works required for upgrades
  • Work with the Scheme Manager and Project Managers to deliver an excellent client experience
  • Review project revisions for compliance and grant-acceptance criteria
  • Generate client proposals
  • Maintain Programme and Project information
  • Provide regular project updates to clients and internal department leads

Experience and Skills

  • SEAI-registered BER assessor status, or hands-on BER/DEAP experience, is a strong advantage and will be reflected in salary
  • Degree or relevant experience in architecture, building surveying, energy/sustainable-energy engineering, civil/structural engineering, construction, estimating, or home energy upgrades
  • Good understanding of domestic construction types and U-values
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent English
  • Familiarity with the energy or sustainability sector

Benefits

  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
  • Company pension
  • On-site parking
  • Further educational support, BER training, and development opportunities — including a clear path toward Senior Advisor and Scheme Manager roles
  • Working hours: 8.30am–5pm
  • Company-paid leave
  • Social events

How to Apply: Please email your CV, along with a cover letter outlining your experience and interest in the role, to orla.harte@reil.ie. Closing date for applications: 12th September 2026.
