About the role

St Vincent's Private Hospital, Dublin is searching for an experienced Staff Nurse – Theatre to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a modern clinical environment, delivering high-quality patient care across surgical and cardiac services.

You will play a key role in supporting safe, effective theatre pathways - from preparation and intraoperative support through to recovery - while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and infection prevention.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare the theatre, instruments, and sterile equipment prior to surgery
  • Verify patient identity, consent documentation, allergies, and procedure details
  • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection-control procedures
  • Assist surgeons intraoperatively and anticipate surgical requirements
  • Support the anaesthetist and monitor patients throughout anaesthesia
  • Observe, assess, and care for patients during post-operative recovery
  • Maintain accurate patient notes and complete surgical documentation
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety

Essential criteria

  • NMBI Registered General Nurse (adaptation not available)
  • Recent nursing experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Experience in a theatre environment or similar clinical setting
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills
