About the role
St Vincent's Private Hospital, Dublin is searching for an experienced Staff Nurse – Theatre to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a modern clinical environment, delivering high-quality patient care across surgical and cardiac services.
You will play a key role in supporting safe, effective theatre pathways - from preparation and intraoperative support through to recovery - while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and infection prevention.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare the theatre, instruments, and sterile equipment prior to surgery
- Verify patient identity, consent documentation, allergies, and procedure details
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection-control procedures
- Assist surgeons intraoperatively and anticipate surgical requirements
- Support the anaesthetist and monitor patients throughout anaesthesia
- Observe, assess, and care for patients during post-operative recovery
- Maintain accurate patient notes and complete surgical documentation
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes and safety
Essential criteria
- NMBI Registered General Nurse (adaptation not available)
- Recent nursing experience in an acute hospital setting
- Experience in a theatre environment or similar clinical setting
- Strong organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills
