Introduction

Our trademark is delivering high quality, cost effective services in the municipal, industrial and specialist hazardous waste market across Ireland. This is an ideal opportunity for a highly motivated individual who wants to learn new skills and develop in their career.

As part of the Technical team your role will be to classify waste in accordance with the appropriate transport, environmental and any other applicable regulations. The role involves assessing the physical and chemical properties of waste to determine the most appropriate treatment option taking into account any hazardous properties and all legal requirements.


Role & Responsibilities

  • Assess new waste streams to ensure waste shipments are carried out in compliance with the appropriate legislation.
  • Advise both internal and external customers on issues relating to classification, treatment, segregation, packaging, transport of waste and any other compliance related queries.
  • Assess the hazards of chemical agents in the workplace for operations and production teams as part of chemical risk assessments and assist in assigning PPE and devising safe plans of action for chemical handling tasks.
  • Carry out pre-acceptance checks for waste treatment methods and assess chemical compatibility between waste streams to ensure no dangerous reactions result from mixing of waste streams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and instructions with the objective of assuring a safe workplace for everyone.

Experience and Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree – Chemistry related or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Waste Operations and ADR/IMDG legislation.
  • Experience in a Technical / Hazardous waste role an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
