Full job description

The Capuchin Franciscans are a Catholic religious order. We wish to appoint a Financial Accountant to assist in the management of financies in the Province.

This is a key position within the Capuchin Franciscans in Ireland and the successful candidate will be expected to support the ethos of the Order. The role is based in Church St., Dublin 7. There may be the possibility of some remote working and occasional travel to other sites within Ireland and the UK.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities will include working closely with the Provincial Bursar in relation to the following:

- Maintaining financial procedures and introducing new procedures as required.

- Management of all accounts of the Province

- Liaising and supporting local Friary communities, projects etc

- Management of the property portfolio and other assets for the Province including liaising with the investment managers and property advisers.

- Establishing, implementing and maintaining systems and controls.

- Review of cost base and identification and implementation of cost saving measures where possible e.g. utilities, insurances etc. and assisting with claims and appeals when required.

- Dealing with third parties e.g. insurance, banks etc.

- Keep up to date on legislative requirements including Charity Acts and Regulations

- Preparation of the accounts for the annual audit

- Responsibility for the National Fleet Database

- Liaising with the Charities Regulatory Authority as required.

- Liaising with Revenue as required.

- Budgeting and forecasting.

- Management of wills and probates.

- Assist in planning and costing capital and maintenance projects.

- Normal routine office duties e.g. payroll, training of local Friary accounts personnel etc.

- Liaising with any fundraisers.

The above list is intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by employees in this position. It is not an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities.

The successful candidate should have:

- qualification in accounting - familiarity with SORP requirements would be highly desirable.

- a minimum of 4 years post qualification experience in a similar role. Experience within the Charity or Religious sector is highly desirable.

- a sound understanding of the differing requirements necessary for the management of Charities.

- Excellent current IT skills

- Experience in payroll administration (desirable)

- Strong verbal and written communications skills, including report writing and the ability to coach others.

- Needs to be able to present information to stakeholders in a non-complex manner.

- an ability to build credibility and strong relationships

- proven ability to maintain resilience and optimism in the face of challenges, changing priorities and circumstances.

- extensive knowledge of corporate governance code and guidance.

- team player, self motivated with an ability to work on one's own initiative.

Salary:

€55,000-62,000 DOE
