Mill Island Pharmacy is seeking an experienced, qualified Pharmacy Technician to join our friendly team in Fermoy, Co. Cork. We are a busy, family-run independent community pharmacy committed to accurate, patient-focused dispensing and excellent customer care.
We are looking for a reliable and organised technician who can work confidently as part of a team and use their own initiative.
Essential requirements – please read before applying To be considered for this position, applicants must:
Have completed a recognised Pharmacy Technician qualification, such as the IPU BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians, a Level 6 Higher Certificate in Science in Pharmacy Technician Studies, or an equivalent qualification; and Have recent hands-on dispensary experience in an Irish community pharmacy, with a sound working knowledge of Irish dispensing procedures and HSE community drug schemes.
This is a qualified Pharmacy Technician position and is not suitable for trainee technicians, students who have not yet completed their qualification, medicines counter assistants or applicants without experience of an Irish community pharmacy dispensary.
What you will be doing Supporting the pharmacist with the accurate preparation and dispensing of prescriptions in line with PSI standards and pharmacy procedures.
Processing prescriptions and maintaining accurate patient medication records.
Taking responsibility for dispensary paperwork and supporting the preparation, checking and submission of GMS/PCRS claims.
Following up on rejected or outstanding claims and helping to ensure accurate month-end submissions. Preparing blister packs and maintaining the associated records.
Managing stock, ordering medicines, monitoring expiry dates and maintaining a well-organised dispensary. Liaising professionally with patients, GP surgeries, and other healthcare professionals.
Providing excellent customer service and responding appropriately to patient queries. Supporting pharmacy services and the efficient day-to-day operation of the pharmacy.
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
