Salary:

€15.40 per hour (paid monthly) will be provided as part of the internship. Travel fees and other expenses will be covered as appropriate.

Internship period:

Hours:

The weekly working hours are estimated to be 35 hours per week with the standard office working hours of Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm including a 1-hour lunch break. On occasion, hours outside of these times may be requested, in which case the hours of work for that week can be rearranged accordingly.

Opportunity summary

Trinity College Dublin invites applications for a paid Creative Design Internship within Trinity Sport. This educational internship offers hands on experience in graphic design, branding, visual communications and creative marketing.

Working as part of the Trinity Sport Communications team, the successful candidate will help shape the visual identity of one of Ireland's leading university sports programmes. The role involves designing creative assets for digital and print, supporting marketing campaigns, developing engaging visual content and contributing to the promotion of sport, fitness and student life across Trinity.

The internship is for a fixed period of six months, with a review after three months based on progress and performance. Recent graduates and current students are encouraged to apply. This internship is designed to provide practical experience in graphic design, visual communications and creative marketing within a dynamic sporting environment.

Principal duties:

  • Design engaging digital and print marketing materials that reflect the Trinity Sport brand, including posters, brochures, timetables, annual reports, signage, event materials, promotional merchandise and digital assets.
  • Develop creative concepts and visual campaigns that support Trinity Sport's marketing and communications objectives.
  • Create graphics and visual assets for social media, the Trinity Sport website, email marketing and digital campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to produce creative assets for campaigns, events, sports clubs, fitness programmes and student initiatives.
  • Design branded materials for flagship Trinity Sport events, including the Sport Awards, Scholarship Awards and major participation campaigns.
  • Maintain and update Trinity Sport timetables and other recurring publications, ensuring consistency, accuracy and brand compliance.
  • Liaise with external print suppliers to ensure the high-quality production and timely delivery of printed materials.
  • Maintain organised digital asset libraries and design files using consistent file management and version control practices.
  • Support the creation of simple motion graphics and creative assets for digital platforms where appropriate.
  • Research current design trends and contribute creative ideas that strengthen the Trinity Sport brand and enhance engagement.
  • Support other communications, marketing and media activities as required.

The candidate

The successful candidate will ideally demonstrate:

  • A recent graduate, or current student, in Graphic Design, Visual Communications or a related discipline.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high standard of written English.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, typography, layout, branding and visual communication skills.
  • Experience designing for both digital and print media.
  • An understanding of branding principles and visual identity.
  • Basic knowledge of Adobe After Effects or motion graphics would be an advantage.
  • Photography or illustration skills would be beneficial but are not essential.
  • Experience creating design assets for social media and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A creative mindset with a willingness to generate new ideas and contribute to campaigns.
  • An interest in sport and student engagement is desirable.

By the end of the internship, the successful candidate will have developed:

  • Increased confidence managing multiple projects and working to deadlines in a professional communications environment.
