Job Description

The Senior Policy Analyst will mainly work with the CEO to advocate for meaningful change to support the elimination of energy poverty in Ireland. This will involve external collaboration and engagement with key stakeholders, including politicians, the Department of Energy Climate and Communications and other relevant organisations and parties. This role may be suitable for someone seeking a fractional role.

Working Conditions and Package

This is a permanent role reporting to the Chief Operations Officer and is remote with a requirement for in-person meetings on a semi-regular basis, usually once a month.

The successful candidate may occasionally be required to travel within Ireland to meet stakeholders.

Company Overview

According to the ESRI there are over 550,000 households (almost 1.5 million people) in energy poverty and as a country we wasted €523 million in renewable wind energy in 2025.

EnergyCloud Ireland is a registered charity, and our vision is to end energy poverty. We are working to achieve this by:

  • Advocating for better Government policy and delivery; and
  • Creating solutions to highlight that when there is waste in the system it is possible to deliver this to homes in energy poverty

Purpose of Role

To ensure EnergyCloud can produce relevant policy to support our vision to end enrgy poverty.

Key Responsibilities

Research and Policy Creation

  • Monitoring relevant policy, regulatory and sector developments.
  • Carrying out research as directed by the CEO to support EnergyCloud’s vision, policy priorities and external submissions.
  • Drafting policy positions and policies

Qualifications

  • You have knowledge of energy poverty, Irish energy policy and the electricity sector in Ireland
  • You have experience operating in political circles.
  • You have postgraduate research experience.
  • You have demonstrable administrative experience and experience using Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Excel Spreadsheets and Zoho CRM or similar.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Passion for social and environmental justice, with a commitment to advancing EnergyCloud’s mission of tackling energy poverty.
