Role Overview
As an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, you will manage the commercial and cost-control aspects of projects from tender through to final account. You will work closely with site teams, subcontractors, and senior management to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial and cost-control aspects of projects from early stages through to final account
- Prepare and review tender documents, bills of quantities, and cost estimates
- Conduct regular cost reporting and forecasting to meet project targets
- Assess, negotiate, and certify subcontractor payments and variations
- Liaise with site teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers for commercial efficiency
- Assist in procurement activities including subcontractor selection and negotiation
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health & safety standards
- Support senior commercial staff with ongoing project and financial reporting
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
- 3–5 years’ experience with a main contractor in Ireland
- Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., GCCC, RIAI)
- Proven experience managing costs on commercial or mixed-use projects
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team
- Strong attention to detail and proficiency with relevant software (Excel, QS packages)
