Elite Talent Hub LTD is a specialist in permanent staffing solutions for clients globally.

Due to ongoing growth, our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join a major civil engineering project in Galway. This role will be central to promoting and maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance across site operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out weekly site safety audits and inspections across the project.
  • Provide guidance to site management teams on compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Support the Contracts Manager and EHS Manager with daily and periodic reporting.
  • Conduct risk assessments and assist with the preparation of method statements.
  • Coordinate and chair regular safety meetings with subcontractors and site staff.
  • Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure safe working practices are maintained.
  • Ensure all statutory documentation (safety statements, RAMS, training records, equipment inspections, insurance certificates) is in place and up to date before work commences.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, reporting findings to senior management and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety files and records in line with Safe-T-Cert and company procedures.
  • Support the development and implementation of environmental management plans, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 and local authority requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly safety reports to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental systems.

Skills and Experience:

  • Recognized EHS Degree or Diploma.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in main construction is preferred.
  • Strong ability to prioritize work requirements and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency in IT, including MS Office and database management.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
