Full job description

Fethard Equine Hospital is seeking two reliable and enthusiastic Equine Hospital Assistants to join our busy referral hospital. This role is ideal for someone with good horse handling skills who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and wants to be part of a dedicated team providing exceptional care to horses. Whether your background is in racing, stud farms, competition yards or equine care, this is a an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced Equine Nurses and veterinary professionals.

The Role:

  • Assisting Nurses and Vets during consults and procedures
  • Supporting the care, monitoring and comfort of hospitalised patients
  • Prepping, sterilising and maintaining treatment areas and equipment
  • Providing practical support to the veterinary team during surgical procedures, lameness work-up's, medical cases and emergency treatments
  • Helping with patient admissions, discharges and routine care
  • Maintaining clean, organised and biosecure treatment and stable areas
  • Providing assistance during emergency cases and occasional out of hours work when required
  • Assisting with stock management and general hospital organisation

  • Is confident handling horses
  • Is reliable, hardworking and eager to learn
  • Works well within a team while also being able to use their own intiative
  • Has excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Has a positive attitude and enjoys working in a fast paced environment
  • Is able to work weekends on a rota basis
