Optimize Recruitment is delighted to partner with our client, a leading construction and property development company, who are seeking an experienced Buyer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional with 2–3 years’ experience to take the next step in their career within a dynamic construction environment.

About the Role

This role is suited to a Buyer or Quantity Surveyor with 2–3 years’ experience in construction procurement who is looking to take on greater responsibility and ownership. You will play a key role in managing procurement activities across multiple projects, working closely with senior stakeholders while contributing to cost control and supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for materials and subcontract packages across projects
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to achieve best value, quality, and delivery timelines
  • Prepare, review, and issue Purchase Orders (POs) using accounts/procurement systems
  • Support and contribute to the preparation and review of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and take-offs
  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and resolve any supply chain issues
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and identify new sourcing opportunities
  • Work closely with project teams, Quantity Surveyors, and site management to ensure material requirements are met
  • Assist in cost analysis, budgeting, and reporting to support commercial objectives
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company procedures

Requirements

  • 2–3 years’ experience in a Buyer, Procurement, or Quantity Surveying role within construction
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management
  • Experience working with BOQs, measurements, and costings is highly desirable
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage supplier relationships
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency in procurement or accounts software systems
  • Relevant qualification in Procurement, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is an advantage
