The Opportunity

You will lead the commercial function across the business, ensuring strong contract management, disciplined governance, healthy cash flow and sustainable profitability.

Working alongside Operations, Finance and Business Development, you will influence key decisions, strengthen commercial performance and develop a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop the QS and commercial team

· Negotiate major contracts and commercial agreements utilising your strong influencing skills and industry knowledge

  • Embed clear standards, structured processes and a culture of accountability
  • Support the Board in building a scalable, professional commercial function
  • Implement strong processes across bidding, procurement, cost control and forecasting
  • Drive effective risk management and continuous improvement
  • Lead monthly CVRs, forecasting and commercial reviews
  • Strengthen commercial awareness across Operations
  • Oversee valuations, payments and commercial controls
  • Build long‑term, value‑driven supply chain partnerships
  • Ensure accurate commercial data in monthly accounts
  • Present performance, risks and opportunities to the Board
  • Support strategic growth and new market opportunities

● Coach and develop future commercial leaders.

About You

We are looking for a proven commercial leader with strong business judgement and the confidence to operate at executive level.

You will ideally have:

· Ten years QS experience (ideally in construction industry)

· Experience leading large commercial teams and complex projects.

· Implement strong processes across bidding, procurement, cost control and forecasting

· Strong knowledge of contract and construction law

· Excellent financial and commercial acumen with a strong eye for the bottom line

· Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.

· The personality to challenge, influence and support senior stakeholders.

· Board‑level communication and stakeholder management skills

· High numerical, analytical and organisational capability

· Flexible and adaptable with a friendly personality, able to form collaborative relationships in a respectful family led work environment

· Strong emotional intelligence with executive presence

Highly Desirable

· Main contractor experience

· Track record improving profitability and forecasting accuracy

· Experience scaling commercial operations in a growing mid tier contractor
