JOB TITLE: Electronic Engineering Technician (Test Engineering Technician)

OBJECTIVES OF POSITION:

As an Electronic Engineering Technician, you will ensure the reliability and performance of our test fixtures, ICT, and functional test systems. You’ll troubleshoot equipment faults, support New Product Introductions (NPI), and carry out preventative maintenance to keep automated lines running smoothly.

• Maximize Uptime: Perform routine maintenance and rapid repairs on ICT and functional test equipment.
• Diagnose & Solve: Troubleshoot electronic test faults and identify root causes to prevent repeat downtime.
• Support & Train: Assist with NPI setups and train debug technicians on fault-finding procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance and calibration on ICT, functional, and automated test equipment.
• Rapidly diagnose and fix complex hardware and software faults on test fixtures during live production shifts.
• Maintain equipment logs, track downtime root causes, manage software backups, and coordinate spare parts inventories.
• Train and mentor debug technicians on fault-finding procedures and board-level debug best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional product teams to support new product launches and line integrations.

HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED

• Test Equipment Uptime: Fast response times and effective root-cause fixes for line stops.
• Maintenance & Compliance: Accurate tracking of preventative maintenance logs and complete backup records.
• Shift Output & Yield: Sustaining high test yields and building team debug capability.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL:

• Education: NFQ Level 6 Diploma in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical trade qualification.
• Experience: 2–3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or test engineering environment.
• Technical Skills: Strong electronic fault-finding abilities and general computer literacy.
• Flexibility: Comfortable working shift patterns in a fast-paced environment.
• Soft Skills: Clear communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to drive tasks independently.

DESIRABLE:

• Previous experience in an electronics test, ICT/functional test, or board-level debug environment.
• Knowledge of high-level or database programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Python, LabVIEW, SQL).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for technical reporting.
