Medical Receptionist (Part-Time, 2 days per week – Thursdays & Fridays)
We are a busy, computerised GP practice seeking a friendly, organised Medical Receptionist to join our team. The role involves welcoming patients, managing appointments, handling phone and front desk queries, and supporting the smooth running of the practice. Experience with Socrates practice management software is desirable. You would work closely with our GP and Practice Nurse, providing administrative support in a professional and patient-focused environment. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to work as part of a small team are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist patients at reception and by telephone in a professional, welcoming manner
  • Manage patient appointments using Socrates practice management software
  • Handle incoming calls, emails, and repeat prescription requests
  • Support GPs and practice nurse with administrative tasks and record-keeping
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with data protection at all times
  • Assist with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a medical or customer service/reception role desirable
  • Familiarity with Socrates or other medical software an advantage (training can be provided)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and work under pressure in a busy environment
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Team player with a flexible and reliable approach
