Full job description

Job Title: Relief Social Care Worker – Children’s Residential Services (Sligo, Roscommon & Longford Rolling campaign)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Relief Social Care Worker to join our team supporting children and young people across our residential services in Sligo, Roscommon, and Longford, located close to major towns and within easy commuting distance of surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for social care professionals who are passionate about supporting young people in care and are looking for flexible work across multiple locations. Our organisation provides high-quality, trauma-informed residential care for children and young people, ensuring a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for their growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day care and support to children in residential settings
  • Build positive, professional relationships with young people, families, and external professionals
  • Contribute to a safe, therapeutic, and trauma-informed environment
  • Support young people in developing life skills, education goals, and personal aspirations
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and care documentation
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and care plan development
  • Adhere to all organisational and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Work flexibly across a 24-hour residential service, including evenings and weekends, depending on service needs

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • A recognised qualification in Social Care or equivalent (Level 7/8 Social Care, Level 8 Psychology, Level 7 Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy, Counselling, Youth & Community Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching, Nursing, Addiction Studies where appropriate)
  • OR Level 5/6 qualification in Social Care
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
  • Candidates must hold a Full Irish Driver’s License

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children in residential care
  • Training or experience in trauma-informed or attachment-based practice
  • Flexibility to travel between services as required
