Full job description

Restaurant General Manager

Honestly Farm Kitchen | Strandhill, Co. Sligo

Run a restaurant people love to visit and a team people love to work in.

Honestly Farm Kitchen is one of Ireland's most distinctive independent hospitality businesses. Supplied by our own organic farm and bakery, we bring together farming, baking and hospitality in a genuinely farm-to-fork business.

Located beside Strandhill Beach on the Wild Atlantic Way, our restaurant, bar, coffee counter and farm shop welcome loyal local customers alongside thousands of visitors every year.

We're looking for an experienced Restaurant General Manager who can build exceptional teams, deliver outstanding hospitality every day and become the driving force behind one of Ireland's most distinctive independent restaurants.

Your place is on the restaurant floor, leading service, coaching your team, welcoming customers and making sure every guest leaves having had a great experience.

The Role

As Restaurant General Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day operation of Honestly Farm Kitchen, leading our restaurant, bar, takeaway counter and farm shop service. Reporting directly to the business owners, and working closely with our Head Chef, you'll have genuine autonomy to improve systems, develop your team and help shape the future of the business.

The role changes with the seasons.

Summer is fast-paced and demanding, with a front-of-house team of up to 10 welcoming more than 500 guests on our busiest days across our 150-seat restaurant and outdoor dining spaces.

Winter is different but just as important. The business becomes more community-focused, with quiet week-days and shorter opening hours, servicing a mostly local clientele and busy weekends. It's a chance to build relationships with regular customers, coach your team, refine operations, manage labour carefully and grow areas of the business such as private dining, events and community partnerships.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being visible, leading by example and creating an environment where both customers and staff genuinely enjoy spending their time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a restaurant where customers receive exceptional hospitality and staff take genuine pride in their work.
  • Lead every service and set the standard for hospitality.
  • Recruit, coach and develop a high-performing front-of-house team.
  • Build a positive culture where people feel valued, supported and proud of their work.
  • Maintain immaculate presentation across every part of the business - from the dining rooms and customer toilets to the appearance and professionalism of the team.
  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences and build lasting relationships with regular customers.
  • Drive sales across the restaurant, takeaway counter and farm shop.
  • Prepare rosters, manage labour costs and monitor business performance.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to ensure seamless communication between kitchen and front of house.
  • Help grow the business through private functions in our upstairs event space, events and local community engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and company procedures.

About You

You'll be an experienced hospitality leader who believes the best place for a Restaurant General Manager is on the restaurant floor.

You'll probably recognise yourself in many of these qualities:

  • You genuinely love hospitality and the buzz of service.
  • You build trust, develop people and lead by example.
  • You have exceptionally high standards and notice the details.
  • You don't believe any task is beneath you, whether that's welcoming guests, clearing tables or helping the team through a busy service.
  • You understand labour management, cost control and the commercial realities of hospitality.
  • You stay calm under pressure, take ownership and always follow through.
  • You communicate openly, fairly and respectfully.
  • You enjoy improving systems that help teams perform consistently at a high standard.
  • You're excited by great food, independent businesses and becoming part of a local community.

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Guests return because they receive consistently exceptional hospitality.
  • Your team enjoy coming to work, continue to develop and are proud of what they achieve together.
  • Every part of the restaurant is presented to an exceptional standard.
  • The business performs strongly while remaining true to our values.

What We Offer

  • Salary: From €45,000 depending on experience.
  • Performance-related bonus.
  • Profit-sharing scheme.
  • Staff discount for you and your family.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • Genuine autonomy and responsibility.
  • Attractive opening hours - 9am-6pm in Winter and till 9pm in Summer.
  • Long-term career opportunities within a growing independent business.
