Restaurant Manager – The Black Lion, Inchicore, Dublin 8

Salary: €45,000 per annum
Location: The Black Lion, 207A Emmet Road, Inchicore, Dublin 8

The Black Lion is one of Dublin's most historic and well-established hospitality venues, serving the Inchicore community for generations. Located in the heart of Dublin 8, the venue combines a busy food offering with a strong local pub trade and a reputation for quality service and hospitality.

We are currently seeking an experienced and ambitious Restaurant Manager to oversee and lead our food service operation. This is a hands-on management role for someone who is passionate about hospitality, guest experience, team development, and driving commercial performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood Service Operations

  • Oversee all day-to-day restaurant operations.
  • Ensure consistently high standards of food presentation, service, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
  • Manage service periods effectively, maintaining excellent communication between front and back of house teams.
  • Ensure all opening, service, and closing procedures are completed to company standards.
  • Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements where required.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, develop, and motivate front of house staff.
  • Lead by example on the floor during busy service periods.
  • Conduct regular staff training and performance reviews.
  • Manage employee performance and address issues in line with company procedures.
  • Create a positive, professional, and customer-focused culture.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Manage labour costs in line with budgeted targets.
  • Drive food sales and maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Monitor daily and weekly trading performance.
  • Assist with stock control procedures and cost management.
  • Work closely with senior management on sales initiatives and business development opportunities.

Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety, health & safety, and company operating procedures.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness throughout all customer-facing areas.
  • Manage customer complaints professionally and efficiently.
  • Ensure all licensing and regulatory requirements are adhered to.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 2 years' management experience in a busy restaurant, gastropub, hotel, or food-led hospitality environment.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations and customer service standards.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of labour control, stock management, and profitability.
  • Experience with rostering, cash handling, and reporting systems.
  • HACCP and food safety knowledge essential.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
