Full job description

Toyota Ireland is seeking to appoint a part-time Canteen Cook / Assistant to support the delivery of a high-quality canteen service. Hours Monday to Friday, 9:15 am to 2:15 pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and serve a varied daily lunch offering, including both hot and cold dishes, while ensuring efficient stock usage and minimising food waste.
  • Maintain exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the canteen, storage areas, coffee area, kitchen and all food preparation areas at all times.
  • Plan menus that promote healthy, nutritious and balanced meal options.
  • Minimise the use of processed foods wherever possible and prioritise fresh ingredients in daily meal preparation.
  • Maintain the canteen in accordance with agreed standards and all HACCP requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant food hygiene legislation and internal procedures.
  • Complete and maintain all required food safety and hygiene documentation and file records appropriately within the canteen HACCP system.
  • Place orders with approved suppliers and monitor stock levels to support uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Store all food items correctly and safely in line with HACCP requirements.
  • Prepare meals efficiently for high daily volumes of approximately 100 people.
  • Manage canteen operations within the allocated budget at all times.
  • Provide catering support for small meetings and internal events as required.
  • Maintain adequate supplies in kitchenettes and complete weekly stock checks.
  • Participate in relevant training and development activities as required.

Skills

  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a cooking role within a canteen, restaurant or hotel environment, ideally serving approximately 75-100 people daily.
  • Level 2 HACCP certification is essential.
  • A sound knowledge of food, nutrition and balanced meal preparation.
  • Demonstrated experience in menu planning and portion control.
  • Good working knowledge of kitchen equipment, appliances and safe operating procedures.
  • Strong understanding of food preparation techniques, knife skills, cooking methods, and health, safety and sanitation standards.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Friendly, outgoing and professional.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A consistent commitment to maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a wider team.
