Reports to: Area Manager

Lynott Jewellery

Reports to: Area Manager, working closely with the Founder & Managing Director

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced retail learning and development professional to lead training across Lynott Jewellery.

This is a senior, hands-on role with ownership of our retail training programme—from onboarding and product launches to service assessments and ongoing development. You will turn Lynott’s brand values into clear standards that teams can confidently apply in every customer interaction.

You should bring proven training experience, a strong background in premium or luxury retail sales, and the credibility to coach both new starters and established managers. We’re particularly interested in candidates who can share examples of extraordinary customer service and explain how they have helped others deliver it.

Key responsibilities

Own the learning and development programme

  • Assess training needs across stores and create a structured training calendar aligned with business priorities.
  • Develop consistent onboarding pathways for permanent, part-time and temporary staff.
  • Create engaging training materials, practical demonstrations and assessments.
  • Deliver monthly training, targeted retraining and individual development plans.
  • Review the effectiveness of training through observed behaviour, assessment results, customer feedback and relevant sales measures.
  • Some recruitment work required from time to time
  • Sales and management support at peak periods

Develop exceptional customer experience and selling skills

  • Define and demonstrate the customer experience expected at Lynott, within the Brown Thomas and Arnotts retail environment.
  • Coach consultative selling, customer discovery, product storytelling, styling, gifting and relationship building.
  • Help teams confidently recommend complementary products, personalisation and higher-value purchases.
  • Train staff to handle complaints with empathy, sound judgement and ownership.
  • Use examples from your own retail experience to show what extraordinary service looks like in practice.

Lead product and service training

  • Deliver training on jewellery, materials, care, engraving, personalisation and permanent jewellery.
  • Coordinate training for new collections and services so teams are prepared at launch.
  • Develop practical competency assessments and maintain clear training and service sign-off records.
  • Ensure staff understand the required procedures and demonstrate competence before delivering services independently.

Build capability across stores

  • Deliver new-starter onboarding
  • Visit stores to observe customer interactions, coach teams and assess how learning is being applied.
  • Create and roll out L&D training, initatives and strategies
  • Build productive relationships with experienced managers, gaining their support while confidently challenging gaps in knowledge or standards.
  • Equip managers to reinforce training and coach their teams between formal sessions.
  • Report monthly on progress, recurring gaps, retraining needs and recommended improvements.

Experience and qualifications

Essential

  • Proven learning and development experience, with responsibility for designing and delivering training programmes.
  • Strong experience in premium or luxury retail sales, ideally within jewellery, beauty, fashion or accessories.
  • Demonstrable success coaching retail teams and improving customer experience or sales performance.
  • Experience facilitating group training, providing individual coaching and assessing practical skills.
  • The ability to share specific examples of extraordinary customer service and explain the judgement behind them.
  • Confidence working with established managers and influencing standards across multiple locations.
  • Strong organisation, clear communication and the ability to manage a training programme independently.

Desirable

  • A relevant qualification in learning and development, education, adult learning, HR or a related field.
  • A recognised training qualification, such as QQI Training Delivery and Evaluation, CIPD learning and development study, or equivalent.
  • Experience developing digital learning, knowledge tests and training records.
  • Jewellery, engraving or permanent jewellery experience.
  • Luxury sales experience
  • Retail management experience

Personal qualities

You set high standards for yourself and follow through. You are an engaging trainer who adapts to different learners, gives constructive feedback and earns trust through your knowledge and approach. You are comfortable learning the specifics of Lynott while bringing the expertise to strengthen how we train and develop our people.

Hours and travel

Flexible for right candidate

Onboarding will primarily take place in Swords, with regular visits to Lynott locations in Dublin, Cork and Limerick. Candidates must be willing and available to travel by train where required. Lynott will cover approved train fares for work-related travel, with visits planned in advance.

Pay: €29,785.47-€40,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Free or subsidised travel
  • On-site parking
  • Sick pay
