Job Summary

Galway City Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates with relevant experience to create a panel for the role of I.S. Data Analyst/Developer.

Working as part of the Council’s ICT and Digital Department, the IS Analyst/Developer will be involved in/responsible for:

  • The development and delivery ICT application projects, developing power apps, business process innovations and intuitive User Interface (UI) designs for optimal user experience (UX).
  • Providing technical support to the organisation across Business Solutions, Data Management and Infrastructure Management.
  • Analysis of enterprise systems as required by the business, to surface insights in the data held within

The successful applicant will be expected to:
  • Participate in national and regional shared service opportunities in on-going projects as required including achieving project deadlines and engaging with national and other external bodies for the rollout of national systems.
  • Maintain proficiency in all aspects of GCC Information systems/software and production.
  • Keep current with new technologies and introduce systems which utilise these technologies to optimise existing services and provide new service opportunities for the organisation.
  • Contribute to the setting of operational performance indicators relating to applications & databases
  • Raise risks and issues as appropriate to the operation of Applications databases in GCC.
  • Respond to and resolve service desk tickets and other support issues as required.
  • Additional duties as may be assigned by the Head of ICT from time to time.





The ideal candidate shall possess proven RECENT experience in the following areas:
  • MS Power Platform, Power Automate and Power BI development
  • Dataverse administration and support
  • Dynamics 365 CRM
  • SQL database administration, maintenance, troubleshooting and support
  • SQL Server management, backups, integration and APIs

The ideal candidate should also possess:
  • Knowledge of the latest and emerging application development techniques and technologies;
  • Proven ability to collaborate and work as part of a team or individually
  • An ability to take on complex problems or situations and take a solution-focused and creative approach to dealing with them;
  • Initiative and enthusiasm for new developments or changing work practices and the drive to implement change effectively;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
  • Have a satisfactory knowledge of Local Government in Ireland
