Health & Safety Officer

Location: Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath, is currently seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join their organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health & Safety professional to work closely with the Health & Safety Manager and leadership team, helping to drive a strong safety culture, ensure legislative compliance, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the site's Health & Safety Management System.
  • Promote and champion a positive health and safety culture across the organisation.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits and workplace risk assessments.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes and support the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Deliver site inductions and coordinate health and safety training.
  • Support fire drills, emergency response activities and the site fire team.
  • Maintain ISO 45001 documentation and support internal and external audits.
  • Manage training records, competency matrices and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare health and safety reports and monitor outstanding actions.
  • Support the Safety Committee, wellness initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist with additional health and safety projects as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Health & Safety Officer role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and ISO 45001.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
