Full job description

We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer Team Lead to lead a multidisciplinary product development team within a high-volume manufacturing environment. The role will be responsible for developing and revising product specifications, tooling and associated equipment, while working closely with customers and internal teams to deliver products to specification.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary Product Development team, managing performance, workload and training.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance, driving innovation and high standards across product development.
  • Lead the design and development of healthcare packaging products in line with customer requirements.
  • Review and update product specifications, drawings and technical documentation.
  • Work cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Process Engineering, Production and Supply Chain to ensure successful product transfer into full-scale production.
  • Coordinate the development, ordering and control of process tooling, including dies and printing plates.
  • Maintain and update relevant MRP/ERP systems and product specification information.
  • Assess machine capabilities and ensure compatibility with tooling requirements.
  • Coordinate orders and liaise with suppliers, customers, planning and sales, monitoring order progress.
  • Review customer complaints and coordinate appropriate actions within Product Development.
  • Support continuous improvement and undertake other duties appropriate to the role.

Key Requirements

  • Third-level qualification in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5 years experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience leading project teams or managing technical professionals, with strong people-management capability.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making and project-management skills, with a track record of delivering to deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High levels of accuracy, reliability and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer focus, accountability and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • AutoCAD qualification or experience would be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of SAP would be beneficial.
  • Experience in a highly regulated healthcare environment would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with medical or pharmaceutical customers would be desirable.
