Social Care Worker – New Progressive Disability Day Service at The Ability Hub (South Dublin)

Location: Pottery Rd, Dún Laoghaire

Contract: Full-Time, Permanent

Start Date: Service now open — new service users starting 1st September 2025

Salary: Starting at €42,000

About The Ability Hub (South Dublin)

The Ability Hub (South Dublin) is expanding and is proud to launch a new and progressive day service supporting young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disability as they transition from school to adult life. With a strong focus on inclusion, autonomy, and meaningful engagement, this vibrant and welcoming service offers tailored supports that prioritise the voice and will of each individual.

You'll join a dedicated team working in a real-world setting, with the service now fully operational and accepting new service users from 1st September 2025. The ethos of The Ability Hub is rooted in positive risk-taking, person-centredness, and quality outcomes — with every journey designed in partnership with those we support.

Your Role

As a Social Care Worker at The Ability Hub (South Dublin), you will empower young adults with Intellectual Disability and/or ASD to build independence, develop skills, and thrive in their local communities. You will work closely with families, colleagues, and a dedicated team of Behaviour Specialists, bringing professional insight and creativity to this pioneering support model.

Build Culture & Trust

· Champion a person-centered, strength-based culture that values choice, voice, and co-creation

· Establish strong, respectful relationships with families and carers

· Support the creation of inclusive spaces where young adults can flourish socially and emotionally

Support the Individual

· Actively contribute to personal planning and keyworking in line with New Directions, promoting autonomy, life skills, and meaningful community inclusion.

· Provide respectful, confidential personal care and safeguarding support in collaboration with the wider team.

Deliver High-Quality, Responsive Supports

· Use person-centred planning tools and accurate record-keeping to track progress and inform responsive, strengths-based support.

· Work collaboratively with the wider team to empower individuals, encourage positive risk-taking, and participate in co-production and planning processes.

Governance, Safety & Professionalism

· Work in line with HIQA standards, New Directions, and organisational policies.

· Assist with medication administration, adhering to the Medication Management Policy

· Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment in accordance with Health & Safety legislation

· Engage in continuous professional development and ensure all mandatory training is current

· Contribute to reflective practice, internal reviews, and service development

· Carry out driving duties as required

Essential Requirements

· Level 7/8 degree in Social Care (or equivalent)

· Minimum 1 year of experience as a key worker supporting individuals with Autism and/or intellectual disabilities

· Sound understanding of New Directions and person-centred planning

· Strong understanding of New Directions and safeguarding frameworks

· Excellent interpersonal and planning skills

· Full, clean manual driving licence (Essential for daily support)

· CORU registration eligibility (or in progress)

Desirable

· Experience in supporting transitions from school to adult life

· Familiarity with co-production, circles of support, or community-based models

· Confidence using digital records and planning tools
