Senior Chef

Are you a passionate and experienced chef with management experience and ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a talented Senior Sous Chef to join our experienced team.

As Senior Chef, you will ensure our food is executed to an excellent and consistent standard daily.

Key Responsibilities:

Day to Day Operational Kitchen Management:

Collaborate with the Head Chef to design and develop innovative menus for all occassions.

Oversee kitchen operations, including weekly menu preparation, food ordering, and stock taking.

Ensure the kitchen is organized, well-resourced, and capable of delivering a high-quality daily menu.

Maintain the highest food standards and drive innovation within the kitchen team.

Food Hygiene:

Implement and maintain stringent food hygiene standards, ensuring all records comply with company procedures and HACCP requirements.

Maintain an excellent level of cleanliness throughout the kitchen with a comprehensive cleaning schedule.

Adhere to COSHH regulations and ensure PPE guidelines are accurate and followed.

Act as a role model for food safety systems and practices.

Liaise with external stake holders.

Finance & Stock Control:

Manage costs in line with budgetary requirements in conjunction with Head chef.

Working in support of Head Chef to maintain efficient budget control focusing on food cost, staff cost, utilities, equipment maintenance, and operating supplies.

Oversee stock control, ensuring proper ordering, rotation, and maintenance of acceptable stock levels

Follow delivery procedures to secure and accurately record stock, completing necessary reports for end-of-week tracking, waste, and payroll.

Health & Safety:

Manage Health & Safety systems in the kitchen, ensuring all staff are aware of their responsibilities.

Ensure safe working practices in line with Health and Safety legislation.

Training & Development:

Participate in the performance management process for kitchen personnel.

Manage kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to all company policies and Head Chefs standards.

Oversee the ongoing development of kitchen team.

Conduct continuous reviews of kitchen staff training, including COSHH, manual handling, HACCP, and hygiene, organizing re-training as needed with the support of HR.

Support the recruitment, induction, and ongoing training of chefs.

Regularly communicate customer feedback to the kitchen team and promote a positive work attitude, leading by example.

Qualities and Experience

- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.

- Strong track record in a hospitality environment.

- Experience in a variety of cuisines.

- Proven experience in food delivery in a hotel environment.

- Experience in menu design, implementation, and food costing.

- Experience in training others.

- Can do attitude

- Excellent communication skills

- Excellent time manager, ability to multitask and work in a pressurised environment.

- Fluent written and verbal English
