Full job description

Wallace’s SuperValu is currently seeking an experienced and passionate Fruit & Veg Manager. This is a full-time position, with the successful candidate working five days per week, Monday to Saturday on a roster basis.

Main Purpose of the Role:
To ensure the Fruit & Veg Department operates efficiently and effectively at all times and provides our customers with excellent quality products and service.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have/Be:

  • Minimum 1 year’s experience in Fresh Food Departments, including ordering.
  • Experience with biweekly stocktaking procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A true passion for the food industry, with creativity and innovation in the fresh offering.
  • The ability to inspire, lead and motivate team members.
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced environment and multitasking under pressure.
  • An interest in horticulture.

Main Duties:

  • Actively live SuperValu brand values: Genuine, Passion for Food, Vibrant, Committed, Innovative, and Imaginative.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Manage and train staff within the department.
  • Oversee stock purchasing and rotation, maintaining the highest standards of quality and freshness.
  • Minimise waste and shrinkage.
  • Merchandise and present the department to the highest standard at all times.
  • Introduce new ideas through regular research and competitor benchmarking.
  • Address customer queries efficiently, professionally, and in line with store policy.
