Full job description

The School of Irish Archaeology is looking for an enthusiastic candidate to work with us in a new role we hope to fill as a a full-time position in the near future. The initial job on offer is for a flexible / casual employee which would be most suited to an individual who has a passion for archaeology, cultural heritage & tourism. If this candidate has experience as a teacher at primary or post-primary level, and is enthusiastic about working with children, young teens and adults, this may be a perfect job for you. An added advantage would be if the candidate has worked or has a background in Archaeology, Irish History and Culture. The majority of this work will be outdoors at that times in inclement weather conditions. Applicants must be able to meet the physical demands of the role, including working on their feet for extended periods, and performing tasks that require bending, stretching, and manual handling.

We are looking for someone who is conscientious and is willing to work hard. Ideally we are looking for an individual who has an interest in expanding our business model so we can go from strength to strength.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Must have experience working with children and young adults.
  • Must have full Irish drivers licence and their own transportation.
  • Must be methodical and attention to detail is vital when working with children and young adults. Safety is of the upmost importance in this position.
  • The ability to provide an inclusive all fun and exciting environment for children & young adults.
  • Ensuring workshops and events are well presented, organised and that health and safety standards are upheld.
  • Must be willing an able to work outdoors in the winter, months, not shy away from manual labour and be willing to work early mornings.
  • The position involves manual labour and hands-on tasks, including moving equipment, working outdoors, and performing physical duties as part of daily responsibilities. Candidates should be comfortable with sustained physical activity in various weather conditions.
  • Have a professional and mature approach towards all aspects of their work.
  • Be hardworking, punctual, reliable and be able to work off their own initiative.
  • Eager to learn and a capacity to work under pressure when needed.
  • Fun loving, enthusiastic and enjoy working as part of a small team.
  • Must be willing to work on weekends when needed and especially in the peak season (March - November)
  • A good knowledge of Irish History, Archaeology and our Cultural Heritage is an advantage.
  • Flexible and willing to travel when required. This position will require the candidate to travel nationwide.
  • All applications will be Garda Vetted through The School of Irish Archaeology.

Qualifications:
· First Aid an advantage.
· Full clean Irish driving licence and their own transportation is essential, as the position will require travel.
· Experience in Archaeology or Childcare is preferred but not essential.
· Leaving Cert & Third Level qualifications and any other relevant experience welcomed.

Pay: €15.00-€16.50 per hour
