Job Title: Health Care Assistant

Location: Pottery Road, Dún Laoghaire, South Dublin

Job Type: Full-Time and part-time positions available

Salary: €33,000 per annum

The Ability Hub (South Dublin) is an exciting new day service for young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and Intellectual Disabilities, built on the values of inclusion, person-led supports, and meaningful community engagement. We are expanding to a second location

Your Role

As a Health Care Assistant, you will work closely with Social Care Workers, helping to implement individual support plans and provide direct, respectful care. Your role will be central in creating safe, consistent, and empowering daily routines.

Key Responsibilities

· Comply with HIQA & HSE Guidelines & Follow organisational policies and procedures including safeguarding, incident reporting, and confidentiality.

· Deliver daily supports by following individualised care plans and behavioural strategies under the guidance of Social Care Workers, while adhering to communication and risk protocols.

· Provide respectful, person-centred support with personal care, daily living, and community participation, while promoting independence and positive social interaction.

· Actively contribute to a positive and inclusive team by communicating respectfully, sharing updates, attending meetings and training, and supporting colleagues.

· Ensure a safe and hygienic environment by following infection prevention, manual handling, cleaning, laundry, and food hygiene protocols.

Essential Requirements

· QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support (or equivalent).

· At least 6 months of experience in a similar care or support role.

· Experience with personal care, safeguarding, and supporting individuals with disabilities.

· Full, clean manual driving licence (required for accessing community activities).

Desirable

· Familiarity with HIQA regulations, New Directions, and person-centred planning.

· Previous experience in day services, schools, or outreach support.

· Comfortable using electronic care records and planning tools.

· Clear, respectful communication skills and strong attention to detail.
