We are actively hiring one Fulltime Actitivies Co-Ordinator candidate to join the Clearbrook team offering excellent pay and conditions.
Clearbrook is a modern purpose-built 90 bed nursing home located in Finglas in Dublin.
Our philosophy is simple, but in the context of a nursing home, it’s powerful. Our four key pillars are at the centre of all decisions - patient-centred care, meaningful activities, excellent dining and a commitment to infection prevention and control. We hire people who share our ethos, and endeavour to treat our staff well with the aim of providing stability and continuity of care to our residents.
Contract:
Part time: 35 hours per week
7 hour shifts, 5 days per week - working Monday to Friday

The Activities Co-Ordinator reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
Purpose of the Post
To develop and facilitate programmes which meet the needs of the entire resident population in Clearbrook Nursing Home, and implement the programming model
Roles and Responsibilities
The Activities Co-ordinator shall:
· Promote and maintain resident safety and provide quality care through respecting the dignity, privacy, spiritual beliefs, customs, values and rights of the resident.
· Liaise with the Registered Provider regarding the provision of opportunities for residents to participate in activities in accordance with their interests and capacities. Particular consideration is given to residents with dementia and/or other cognitive impairments.
· Liaise with the Managing Director/Director of Nursing regarding the purchase and maintenance of activity equipment and other resource needs of the programme.
· Submit an annual budget and activity plan for the provision of services for the following year.
· Oversee, coordinate, and provide opportunities for indoor and outdoor exercise and physical activity, personal development, communication and other psychosocial development for the residents of Clearbrook Nursing Home.
· Coordinate and plan events such as major holidays and parties in the Clearbrook Nursing Home.
· Undertake a complete activity assessment of new residents upon admission and to use this information to provide a programme that matches the needs and likes of the resident.
· Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the resident’s needs and outcomes of the individual/group activity programme. Provide suitable group and individual activities to residents designed to maintain and improve their quality of life.
· Review activity assessments on a regular basis or on a needs change basis.
· Encourage involvement from the residents of Clearbrook Nursing Home, however, the residents shall be given a choice to participate in individual and/or communal recreational activities.
· Maintain accurate documentation of activities, participation rates, and evaluation of plans.
· Participate in regular reviews and provide evidence of review of the activity programmes.
· Record all resident activities offered, completed, or refused by the resident within the resident records.
· Work within the Multi-disciplinary Care Team of Clearbrook Nursing Home to provide holistic care and services for the residents.
· Provide support and assistance to maintain the quality of care for older people, including participation in workgroups or committees as required.
· Support the development and implementation of the risk management activities, including involvement in the Service and Care Provision Risk Management Register and Individual Risk Management Plans as deemed required.
· While performing duties, ensure that resident’s privacy and dignity are maintained.
· Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor the activities to suit them.
· Know each resident by name and establish and maintain appropriate relationships with residents and their family members, which include maintaining effective communication with residents, family members, volunteers, and other members of the resident’s Multi-disciplinary Care Team.
· Ensure up-to-date information on activities is circulated to each resident, or his/her representative, in formats suited to his/her capacities.
· Report any concerns about a resident’s changes in health and/or activity status to the Line Manager/Director of Nursing.
· Attend training courses both in-house and at other locations to meet and enhance the service being provided by Clearbrook Nursing Home.
· Undertake such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Senior Management.
· Ensure that all enquiries regarding care are directed to the Clinical Nurse Manager/Director of Nursing.
· Respect the dignity and privacy of the residents. Be aware of the confidential nature of the work and in particular, the right of residents to confidentiality. To this end the workings of the Clearbrook Nursing Home or its residents shall not be discussed with people outside Clearbrook Nursing Home.
· Adhere to the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) ‘five moments of hand hygiene’ principles or emerging best practice and relevant national guidance.
· Report any incident, injury or near miss involving an infectious agent to the appropriate person. Ensure they are aware of how and to whom to report any accidents or incidents to.
Be responsible for the following in relation to Education and Training:
· Develop and maintain competency levels necessary for professional practice.
· Attend training courses both in-house and at other locations to meet and enhance the service being provided.
· Attend mandatory training and keep up-to-date with developments relevant to the role, be clinically responsible for practice and seek support and feedback on operational developments.
· Ensure they receive suitable and sufficient education and training in infection prevention and control practice.
· Seek advice, including advice from senior colleagues on any aspects of infection prevention and control practice.

Qualifications
Essential:
· Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable:
· Sonas licence holder (note: Individual must be a Sonas Licence holder to complete Sonas activities from Jan 2015)
· Relevant FETAC related training
Experience
Essential:
· At least one year experience as an activity’s coordinator in a nursing home.
· Previous experience working with older people.
Desirable
· Gerontology Experience
Essential skills, competencies and/or knowledge
Professional Knowledge
· Knowledge of Residential Care legislation including:
· HIQA’s National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland, 2016, the National Standards for infection prevention and control in community services 2018 and others as applicable.
· S.I. No. 415 of 2013 Health Act 2007 (Care and Welfare of residents in designated centres for older people) Regulations 2013.
