Avonbridge Care are currently recruiting for Social Care Worker and Team leader positions within our Separated Children Seeking International Protection (SCSIP) Centre in South Dublin. Key responsibilities:

Trauma Informed Care and Development

· Provide safe, nurturing, and trauma informed care to meet the emotional, physical, and psychological needs of each young person.

· Act as a positive, consistent adult presence, developing and maintaining trusting relationships.

· Promote positive attachments and actively support engagement in educational, vocational, and recreational activities.

· Coach and mentor young people in the development of independent living skills (e.g., budgeting, household management, cooking)

Safeguarding and Protection

· Uphold the highest standards of child protection, adhering to Children First and national safeguarding protocols.

· Maintain vigilance for signs of abuse or neglect, accurately documenting and reporting child protection and welfare concerns in a timely manner.

· Ensure high levels of supervision and maintain a secure, risk-assessed, and homely living environment.

Professional Practice and Collaboration

· Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (social workers, psychologists, teachers) to implement and review individual care plans and positive behaviour strategies.

· Maintain accurate, factual records (logs, notes, incident reports) ensuring regulatory compliance.

· Liaise effectively with external professionals, emergency services, and the on-call support as required.

· Actively and meaningfully participate in team meetings, supervision, and mandatory training.

Rights and Environment

· Respect and uphold the dignity and human rights of every young person, ensuring their participation and involvement in decisions regarding their care.

· Implement an inclusive practice, respecting and valuing diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities.

· Support the young person in maintaining a clean, tidy, and hygienic living space, promoting shared responsibility for household tasks.

· Be accountable for professional conduct and demonstrate flexibility to ensure adequate service cover and delivery.

Qualifications & Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of:

QQI Level 7 in Social Care

QQI Level 7 in Psychology

QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy

QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Counselling / Psychotherapy

QQI Level 7 or Professional Practice Qualification in Addiction Counselling

QQI Level 7 in Youth and Community or similar

QQI Level 7 in Social Science / Social Studies

QQI Level 7 in Family Support

Professional Qualification in Teaching (Not TEFL)

Professional Qualification in Nursing Studies

QQI Level 7 in Disability Studies

QQI Level 7 in Applied Behavioural Analysis

QQI Level 7 in Early Years Care where centre caters for children under 12 years.

BA in Applied Policing or equivalent

Holder of Higher Certificate in Custodial Care (Irish Prison Service) or equivalent

Must be CORU registered

Desirable Criteria

Minimum of 2 years' experience working within a Social Care Setting.

Experience in supporting vulnerable young people with a trauma-informed approach

Knowledge and experience of implementing National Standards for Children's Residential Centres

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From €18.92 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 48 per week
