A well-established Building & Civil Engineering contractor, headquartered in Cork, is seeking an experienced and motivated Accounts Assistant to join their Finance team. The company provides construction services to both private and public partners across a wide range of sectors in Ireland and the UK, with a strong track record of high-quality project delivery. SUMMARY OF ROLE:
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts Assistant will manage the company's outgoing financial transactions. The role involves processing invoices efficiently and accurately, maintaining strong relationships with vendors, and supporting the finance team with reporting and reconciliation tasks. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement: in-office in Cork on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with work-from-home on Thursday and Friday.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Processing invoices through document capture via E-Vision software
  • Matching invoices to GRNs
  • Creditor reconciliations
  • Compiling weekly supplier payment runs
  • Credit card receipt processing and reconciliation
  • Processing monthly employee expenses
  • Assisting with bi-monthly VAT returns
  • General reporting, including weekly AP reports, overhead reports, and JCR reports
  • General administration, including maintaining the AP inbox, addressing queries from internal and external contacts, and liaising with utility companies

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Ability to handle financial information with sensitivity and discretion
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Efficient, organised, and able to multitask to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in construction is preferable but not essential
  • Experience with E-Vision is preferable; training will be provided
