Full job description

Responsible for the day-to-day financial management of one of Connacht Hospitality Group's businesses, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and supporting operational decision-making. The role works closely with General Managers and department heads to provide financial insight, ensure compliance with statutory obligations and contribute to the achievement of business objectives.

The duties of the Qualified Accountant include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring delivery to agreed deadlines.
  • Support General Managers by providing accurate financial information and commercial insights to assist operational decision-making.
  • Prepare financial reports and analysis to support business performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of annual budgets in line with Group objectives.
  • Prepare and maintain weekly cashflow forecasts.
  • Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and within agreed timeframes.
  • Complete creditor reconciliations and ensure the effective administration of the purchasing system.
  • Maintain robust financial controls and identify opportunities to improve financial processes and efficiencies.
  • Analyse financial performance, monitor costs and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances.
  • Ensure all Revenue returns and statutory reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Support the annual external audit process, preparing documentation and responding to audit queries.
  • Attend and actively contribute to weekly finance meetings.
  • Assist with the implementation of finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the Group.
  • Provide financial support to operational managers as required.
  • Respond to ad hoc financial queries and complete additional duties as assigned by management that are consistent with the role.

Professional Requirements & Experience

Essential:

· Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

· Experience preparing monthly management accounts.

· Experience completing balance sheet reconciliations.

· Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles.

· Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience within the hospitality sector or another fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Experience using accounting and purchasing systems.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management.
  • Knowledge of Revenue compliance and statutory reporting requirements
