JOB SYNOPSIS
The successful candidate will provide multidisciplinary day-to-day technical support across the School of Engineering’s teaching laboratories, workshops, research facilities, undergraduate Final Year Projects (FYPs), master’s projects, and other student and research activities. The role requires strong practical skills and proven industrial experience in electrical and electronics engineering, including troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of laboratory and workshop equipment (such as CNC machines, lathes, 3D printers, welders, ovens/furnaces, waterjet cutters, grinders, instrumentation systems, and associated electrical/mechanical apparatus). Hands-on expertise in building and testing electronic circuits, data acquisition (DAQ) systems, sensor integration, and programming environments (e.g. LabVIEW, Arduino, MATLAB) is essential. The post holder will also support practical fabrication, prototyping, and modification of components using workshop tools and CAD packages such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks. The role involves flexible, responsive technical assistance to academics, postgraduates, researchers, and students across multiple engineering disciplines. Excellent problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a proactive approach to equipment upkeep and project support are critical. The successful candidate will also support undergraduate labs as required, setting up equipment and providing instruction to students/teaching assistants.
