The Institute of Eye Surgery is a leading provider of specialist eye care, dedicated to delivering exceptional clinical and surgical services with a strong focus on patient experience across several sites.

We are looking for a Training and Development Specialist to design, deliver, and enhance training initiatives for our administrative team. In this role, you will deliver 1-to-1 training to help staff build the skills, understanding, and confidence needed to maintain a high standard of service across our network.

This is a newly created, training-focused role that combines hands-on delivery, overseeing daily operations, and performance support to drive measurable improvements in skills, processes, and team outcomes. The successful candidate will work closely with the Administrative Operations Lead to promote standardisation, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver effective onboarding and induction programmes that set new hires up for long-term success.
  • Support the full probation process ensuring clear expectations, regular feedback, and timely reviews
  • Oversee and support the administrative team to maintain consistent performance, development, and alignment with company standards.
  • Provide one to one coaching and mentorship to build capability, foster professional growth, and address performance challenges proactively.
  • Develop and maintain accurate training records and oversee competency tracking to ensure compliance and accountability.
  • Identify and address training needs or performance gaps, delivering solutions that drive measurable improvement.
  • Support workflow improvements and KPI tracking.
  • Develop and enhance training materials, SOPs, and resources to promote standardisation and best practice.
  • Deputise for the Administrative Operations Lead as required.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly management meetings in the absence of the Administrative Operations Lead.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

Essential

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience designing, delivering, and evaluating training programmes, including measurement of effectiveness.
  • Strong understanding of administrative processes, scheduling systems and workflow coordination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and database management.
  • Experience implementing or managing a Learning Management System (LMS).

Desirable

  • Train-the-Trainer qualification.
  • Experience in staff training, supervision, and mentoring.
