Position: Bus Driver & Porter Team Member

Department: Front Office

Reports to: Porter Team Leader/Front Office Manager

About the Role

As a bus driver / porter , you will play a key role in delivering a seamless and memorable arrival and departure experience for our guests.

You will provide safe and professional transportation while supporting valet, luggage handling, and guest escort services in line with 5-star hospitality standards The driver / porter team plays a key role in curating memorable, personalised guest experiences at The Hawthorn By Galway Bay. Acting as a trusted point of contact, this role supports guests before arrival, throughout their stay, and at departure by delivering tailored recommendations, itinerary planning, and seamless coordination of services. With a strong service mindset and in-depth local knowledge, the bus driver / Porter team members enhance the guest journey while upholding the estate’s standards of warmth, professionalism, and discretion. The bus driver / porter will need to be able to drive our guest 17 seater bus.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide a genuine, warm, and professional welcome to all guests, visitors, and vendors.
• Most hold a D License and be able to drive 17 seater mini bus.
• Safely operate the staff shuttle as per schedule
• Drive guest vehicles with care and professionalism
• Provide golf course transfers using hotel vehicles or golf buggies
• Ensure all driving complies with road safety regulations and hotel policies
• Assist with valet parking in a safe and efficient manner
• Greet guests warmly upon arrival with a professional and friendly demeanor
• Assist guests with luggage & golf clubs
• Escort guests to their rooms and provide a brief orientation if required
• Maintain a polished appearance and uphold luxury hospitality standards
• Anticipate guest needs and offer assistance proactively
• Provide basic information about hotel facilities and local attractions
• Ensure vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and presentable at all times
• Report any vehicle issues or incidents immediately
• Support the Front Desk / Concierge team during busy periods
• Ensure the team consistently delivers professional, courteous, and personalized service, maintaining LQA standards

Requirements

• Valid D Driving License
• Previous experience in a hotel, chauffeur, or guest services role preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
• Warm, engaging personality with a guest-first mindset
• Discreet, trustworthy, and respectful of guest privacy
• Ability to remain calm and composed in busy situations
• Strong local knowledge with the ability to create tailored, high-value guest recommendations.
• Service-driven mindset with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
• Eligibility to work in Ireland.

This Job Description will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis with Porter Team Leader/ Front Office Manager
