Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) / Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI) is a commercial semi-state body responsible for the Promotion and Development of Greyhound Racing in Ireland. The role of Racing Operative is a key role within the racing team at Greyhound Racing Ireland, Limerick Greyhound Stadium.

Reports to: Racing Manager

Primary Work Location: Greyhound Racing Ireland, Limerick Stadium

Hours of Work: Casual part-time position providing cover for Racing every Thursday, 2 pm - 6 pm, with occasional cover work on Friday/Saturday evenings.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop a good understanding of race video requirements.
  • Set up and test equipment 1 hour prior to first race.
  • Operate the video camera to the required specifications for racing (including parading before each race).
  • Ensure proper focus is achieved.
  • Clean the camera and camera lens.
  • Inform management of any deficiencies with equipment or recommendations.
  • Record any promotional material on the track as required.
  • Use of the Company Time and Attendance system.
  • Collection and balancing of Race Entry Fees.
  • Collection and balancing of Trial Fees.
  • Racing Management System (RMS) Data Input.
  • Operation of the Photo finish equipment.
  • Acting as a judge at race night events.
  • Assisting the stewards of the meeting with kennel and parading duties.
  • Cover of Racing Office during racing events.
  • Assisting and monitoring the printing of race cards.
  • Carry out any work-related requests as required in the weight room and kennel area.
  • Comply with all GRI procedures to include all statutory procedures - Fire, Health and Safety, hygiene, internal audit.
  • To carry out any other reasonable task as assigned by management to meet business needs.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A full driving licence is preferred.
  • Has the ability to work towards tight deadlines whilst using their own initiative;
  • Ability to learn quickly and work as part of a team;
  • Seeking a challenging work environment;
  • Video Camera and equipment experience is desirable.
