Studio 3 Ireland is an independent organisation recognised internationally for the development of the Low Arousal Approach.

We provide personalised, community-based support to autistic people and others with complex support needs. Our approach focuses on understanding the individual, reducing stress and building supportive relationships over time.

We pay particular attention to the small details, including communication, relationships, environment, tone, timing and expectations, which can have a significant impact on a person's experience and wellbeing.

The role

We are seeking an experienced Support Worker to join a small, consistent team providing individualised support in Tralee.

This role requires someone who is comfortable working with complexity and who can remain calm, thoughtful and responsive when situations are difficult, uncertain or change unexpectedly.

Building trust will be central to the role. The successful candidate will need to work at the individual's pace, notice subtle changes, listen carefully and adapt their approach when needed.

The role will include:

• Building a consistent and trusting working relationship
• Providing calm, respectful and individualised support
• Recognising and responding appropriately to anxiety, stress and distress
• Supporting autonomy, choice and meaningful participation in everyday life
• Reflecting on interactions and adapting your own approach where necessary
• Working collaboratively with the wider support and clinical team
• Following agreed support plans and risk management strategies

About you

We are looking for an experienced, emotionally mature and reflective practitioner who is comfortable working with complexity.

You should be curious about people, able to look beyond what is immediately presenting and interested in understanding the factors that may be influencing a person's experience.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring psychological thinking into everyday support, while remaining practical, warm and grounded.

Applicants should:

• Have a relevant qualification in Psychology, Social Care, Healthcare or a related discipline
• Have relevant experience supporting autistic people or people with complex support needs
• Hold a full clean driving licence and have access to your own vehicle, which you will be required to use as part of the role
• Be calm, patient and confident in challenging or unpredictable situations
• Be able to reflect on and adapt their own practice
• Value autonomy, dignity and individual choice
• Understand the importance of consistency and professional boundaries

A background in psychology or psychologically informed practice would be particularly relevant.

Experience of the Low Arousal Approach is not required. Training and ongoing practice support will be provided.

Hours

The position is for 10 hours per week, primarily across two agreed days. Consistency is important, although some flexibility may occasionally be required in response to individual or service needs.

Please note: This role requires the use of your own vehicle for work purposes. Applicants must hold a full clean driving licence and be willing to include appropriate insurance for work-related use. Mileage expenses are paid in line with organisational rates.
