Full job description

Host - Immediate Start

This summer we are opening Omos - a 16-bedroom guesthouse and 40-seat restaurant set on 4.2 acres just outside the heritage town of Abbeyleix, County Laois.

The name Omos - meaning honour, duty, and respect - reflects our intention behind this project: to create something lasting and meaningful; something with soul. We are building a Guesthouse and Restaurant that feel like they belong, reflecting on our neighbourhood and community, and that generously welcome curiosity, craft, and discovery.

Here at Omos, we pride ourselves on our standards, uniqueness, and our guest experience. We are now seeking a Host to become the first and last point of contact in our guest journey - a person who understands that hospitality begins long before a guest sits at the table.

At Omos, the Host is far more than a reservations role. They are the caretaker of the welcome experience, ensuring every arrival feels thoughtful, seamless, and personal. Working closely with the Restaurant Manager and wider team, they help orchestrate the rhythm of the dining room, balancing guest experience, reservations, communication, and service flow with warmth and precision.

There will be one Restaurant sitting a day; Tuesday to Saturday and a lunch sitting on a Saturday.

The Role

  • Reporting to our Restaurant Manager, you will be a hospitality professional who genuinely enjoys caring for people and creating memorable experiences.
  • You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident communicating with guests before, during, and after their visit. You will act as the central point of communication for reservations, guest preferences, special occasions, and arrivals, helping ensure every guest feels recognised and cared for.
  • Alongside your experience, we seek a Host who is kind, calm under pressure, naturally welcoming, and excited to help shape a truly special guest experience.

What We Are Seeking

  • Previous experience in hospitality, guest services, reservations, events, or a similar guest-facing role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Legal eligibility to work in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence managing reservations systems, guest communications, and administrative tasks.
  • The ability to multitask while maintaining warmth and professionalism.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and creating meaningful guest experiences.
  • A warm, friendly, enthusiastic, and flexible attitude. A person who can respond to a range of different work situations.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys working closely with both Front of House and Guesthouse teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage reservations, guest notes, and daily booking accuracy.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guest enquiries and communications.
  • Coordinate arrivals, departures, special occasions, dietary requirements, and guest preferences.
  • Lead the welcome and departure experience for restaurant guests.
  • Support the Restaurant Manager with daily service planning and floor organisation.
  • Maintain accurate guest profiles and reservation records.
  • Work closely with the Guesthouse team to ensure a seamless experience for in-house guests.
  • Assist with event administration, bookings, and guest communications where required.
  • Help maintain the calm flow and rhythm of service through proactive communication and organisation.

In Return; When You Join Omos

You will be joining a workplace that is nourishing, respectful, and inspiring.

  • As part of our team at
  • One service per day with a dinner service and lunch only on a Saturday
  • Closed for Christmas and closed for the month of January
  • Generous salary and benefits including tip distribution
  • An amazing daily staff meal
  • A dedicated staff lounge with a kitchen and views of the market garden
  • On-site showers for your comfort
  • A culture grounded in respect, kindness, and professionalism
  • A project surrounded by nature, celebrating Irish craft and contemporary design
  • Regular guest speakers and collaborative events
