Job Title: Senior Clinical/Educational Psychologist

Contract Type: Permanent / Part Time

Contract Hours: 31.2 hours (4 days) per week

Salary Scale Range: 98,493 - 115,772 (full time equivalent)

Annual Leave: pro rata of 29 days (full time equivalent)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, compassionate, and motivated Senior Clinical/Educational Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team supporting children and young people aged 018 years with visual impairment and, in some cases, additional needs.

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to develop specialist expertise while making a meaningful impact on the lives of the people we support. You will play a central role in delivering high-quality psychological care, while collaborating with other professionals across our multidisciplinary team, to provide holistic care for the people we support.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Formulation

• Conduct comprehensive, developmentally informed psychological assessments on cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioural development, ensuring consideration of the impact of visual impairment.
• Develop clear, evidence-based formulations to guide intervention and care planning.
• Produce high-quality clinical reports in line with professional and service standards.

Therapeutic Intervention

• Deliver individual and group therapy using evidence-based interventions tailored to the unique needs of each child or young person.

Family Support

• Work in partnership with families, offering psychological support and guidance. This may include helping families understand the emotional, social, and developmental needs of their children and providing strategies to support them.
• Build strong, collaborative relationships that empower families and promote positive outcomes.

Consultation & Multidisciplinary Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, including vision specialists, therapists, educators, and other professionals.
• Offer advice and support to staff in schools and other settings, ensuring childrens psychological needs are met in all areas of life.
• Contribute to coordinated, person-centred care planning and service delivery.

Leadership & Mentoring

• Provide clinical supervision to staff grade psychologists, trainees, and other clinic staff as needed.
• Support the professional development of team members to foster growth.
• Contribute to innovation and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Training, Research & Professional Practice

• Deliver training to professionals, including teachers, healthcare providers, and social workers, on the psychological needs of children/young people with visual impairment.
• Ensure all practice aligns with professional, ethical, and legislative standards.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• Doctorate in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology (or equivalent), accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or equivalent body.
• Registration with PSI (or eligibility for registration).
• Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, with a strong focus on children and young people.
• Experience working with children and young people with disabilities and complex needs.
• Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment, intervention, and family support.
• Experience in multidisciplinary team working and consultation.
• Additional Training and Experience in Administration of the ADOS-2.

Desirable

• Experience working specifically with people with a visual impairment.
• Familiarity with assistive technologies and supports.
• Experience in research or service development.

Other Requirements

• Eligible to work in Ireland.
• Satisfactory Reference Checks and Garda Vetting.
• Available to interview in person.
