Job Title: Non-Clinical Nurse (Foster Care Home)
Location: Dublin City Centre

Reports To: Registered Manager / Care Home Manager
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, organised, and dedicated Residential Social Worker to support the wellbeing, safety, and development of children and young people within our care home.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, experience working with vulnerable children or young people, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best outcomes for those in our care.
Job Purpose
The Residential Social Worker will provide high-quality, child-centred care and support to young people living in a residential setting. The role focuses on promoting emotional wellbeing, safety, personal development, and positive life outcomes for young people in care, in line with care plans, legislation, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Work with Young People
- Build trusting, professional relationships with young people and provide consistent emotional and practical support.
- Support young people with daily living activities, education, routines, and personal development.
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience, independence, and self-esteem.
- Safeguard young people at all times and follow child protection and safeguarding procedures.
Care Planning and Support
- Implement and contribute to individual care plans, placement plans, and risk assessments.
- Support young people to attend education, training, appointments, and community activities.
- Encourage healthy lifestyles, including physical and emotional wellbeing.
Professional Practice
- Maintain accurate, clear, and timely records in line with policies and legal requirements.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, families, schools, health professionals, and other agencies.
- Participate in reviews, meetings, and key working sessions.
Health, Safety, and Environment
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured living environment.
- Follow behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques when required.
- Adhere to organisational policies, including confidentiality, equality, and diversity.
Teamwork and Development
- Work effectively as part of a residential care team.
- Attend supervision, training, and team meetings.
- Commit to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
Person Specification
Essential
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a care or residential setting.
- Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and the needs of young people in care.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
- Strong communication, listening, and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Education & Health Promotion
- Deliver basic health education sessions on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, emotional wellbeing, and lifestyle choices.
- Promote a culture of safety, wellbeing, and positive health behaviours within the home.
Compliance & Safeguarding
- Ensure the home meets relevant health and safeguarding standards in accordance with statutory and local authority requirements.
- Participate in internal audits, assessments, and care reviews.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately.
Requirements Qualifications & Experience
- Registered Social Work qualification - International Qualifications accepted
- 3 years post qualification experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable populations.
- Experience in safeguarding, care planning, or health coordination is an advantage.
