Full job description
The 4-star Arklow Bay Hotel is a well-established, family-run hotel located in the scenic seaside town of Arklow, Co. Wicklow, overlooking a beautiful nature reserve and bay views. The hotel offers 91 bedrooms, extensive conference and banqueting facilities for up to 450 guests, a vibrant leisure centre, and popular dining options in the Ferrybank Lounge and Pottery Restaurant. Easily accessible from Dublin by road and rail, Arklow Bay Hotel is a thriving destination for leisure, corporate, and event guests.
The Role
We are currently seeking a Part-Time Receptionist to join our Front of House team. This is a customer-facing role suited to a friendly, organised individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced hotel environment and delivering excellent guest experiences.
As a key point of contact for our guests, you will play an important role in ensuring smooth day-to-day front desk operations while maintaining the highest standards of service.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and register guests on arrival in line with hotel check-in procedures
- Handle guest check-outs accurately and efficiently
- Answer telephone calls promptly in a friendly and professional manner
- Manage reservations in line with rate management and hotel procedures
- Liaise closely with the Reservations and Housekeeping departments to ensure room availability and readiness
- Communicate special guest requirements (e.g. cots, extra beds, early check-ins) to relevant departments
- Provide guests with information on hotel facilities, services, dining options, and local attractions
- Assist guests with enquiries and resolve complaints in a professional and timely manner
- Ensure all cash handling and billing procedures are followed correctly
- Maintain full knowledge of bedroom types, locations, and hotel facilities
- Allocate arrivals for upcoming business as required
- Ensure all guest requests are dealt with efficiently and courteously
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in hotel reception or a customer-facing hospitality role is desirable
- Strong customer service skills with a warm, welcoming manner
- Fluent English with a strong command of the language
- Basic computer skills essential; knowledge of Hotsoft PMS is an advantage
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work well under pressure
- Flexible availability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, midweek, and weekends
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment
- Cash handling experience advantages.
