The Role

We're looking for a Product Owner to join us. You'll be the person making sure nothing falls through the cracks and metrics are real. You'll own the backlog, keep timelines grounded, track quality, and guard our ISO compliance. Most importantly, you'll work closely with the Technical Lead sitting between the team and the rest of the business, making sure everyone's on the same page.

This isn't about managing people or being the smartest person in the room. It's about asking good questions, staying organised, and helping a small technical team ship reliably.

About Optimise Everything

We're an Irish IoT company building an energy management and building analytics platform. Our customers include major organisations managing building performance and energy efficiency. We're a lean, distributed team working on technical problems in energy performance, MQTT infrastructure, building automation, and data analytics.

Lean team, remote-first, kanban approach. No scrum ceremonies, no standups that go nowhere. We work on what matters now, communicate clearly, and don't waste time on process for process's sake.

We use Laravel, TimescaleDB, Python, MQTT, Docker, and edge servers. We're ISO 27001 certified and operate with security and compliance at the core.

You'll report to our COO but work day-to-day with the Technical Lead. It's a partnership, not a hierarchy. You'll be part of a 3-person dev team plus technical lead that ships real product for real customers.

What You'll Do

Keep the backlog healthy - Clean Jira backlog, work with the Technical Lead to refine tickets, make sure every story going to dev is clear and testable.

Protect the timeline - Help set realistic delivery dates, track progress weekly, surface blockers before they explode, keep stakeholders honest about what's actually feasible.

Track quality and bugs - Weekly bug reports with trends (what keeps breaking? why?). Help prioritise what gets fixed vs. what's new. Look for patterns.

Keep us ISO 27001 compliant - Make sure tickets follow our security practices and documentation standards. Audit work before it closes. Maintain an audit trail so compliance audits don't hurt.

Be the point of contact - Daily/weekly collaborations on what matters and what's next. Regular status updates to our COO. Own update emails to the team. Translate between technical constraints and business needs.

Ask questions - We value curiosity. If something doesn't make sense, dig. If a ticket is vague, push back. If you spot a risk, raise it.

Document what matters - Keep platform documentation current: features, how things work, limits, gotchas. Work with the Technical Lead to capture decisions and architecture. Make sure knowledge doesn't live only in someone's head.

About You

You've got these skills

  • Strong organisational mindset (you like order and tracking)
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Jira fluency, or quick to learn
  • Comfortable working with metrics and data
  • Able to stay calm and escalate calmly when things get messy
  • You ask "why?" a lot and dig until you understand

You might have

  • 1-4 years experience in operations, project coordination, or product support
  • Customer-facing or stakeholder management experience
  • ISO or compliance background
  • Basic technical literacy (you don't code, but you understand code exists)
  • Experience with kanban or lean workflows

What matters more

  • You care about getting things right and finishing what you start
  • You're curious and want to learn the product and domain deeply
  • You work well with small, tight teams
  • You're comfortable being a generalist rather than a specialist

Pay: €51,571.75-€89,456.52 per year

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Free or subsidised travel
  • On-site parking
  • Work from home
