Hays has been retained to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for our client, a leading Cork-based engineering consultancy.

Your new role
Duties Include:
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a leading role in designing innovative electrical systems for a wide range of building projects. You'll work closely with clients, project engineers, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring every solution meets the highest technical standards and delivers real value.


  • Lead the design and specification of electrical engineering solutions for buildings, ensuring compliance with all current regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate directly with clients and project teams to define requirements and develop tailored technical solutions.
  • Oversee pre-construction activities, including design development, service coordination, technical submittals, and subcontract management.
  • Provide technical support to estimating, procurement, commercial, and project bid teams.
  • Offer off-site technical support to construction teams as needed.
    • Mentor and support junior staff, helping them grow and develop their skills.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong technical expertise in all aspects of electrical engineering services and design.
  • Third level qualification in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
  • At least 7 years' relevant experience, ideally within a design consultancy environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of current design guides, Building Regulations, EN and IEC standards.
  • Experience with Electrical Design Software such as Dialux and Amtech or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working with clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work well within multifunctional project teams.
    • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
