What is the Role?

We are looking for an experienced Sustainability and Health & Safety Consultant to join our team in Speco Sustainability Consultancy, Galway. This position involves managing projects of various scales and types in the areas of environmental health and safety. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, assist clients in navigating complex regulatory requirements, ensure compliance with environmental health and safety legislation, and contribute to sustainable development across Ireland.

We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented professional who is passionate about environmental sustainability and has a proven capability to effectively assist clients to achieve environmental health and safety best practice. The ideal candidate will have experience in health and safety, and ESG. The position involves on-site client visits, hybrid working, and significant client engagement.

What are the Key Responsibilities?

· Prepare health and safety reports, deliver health and safety training, track key performance indicators (KPIs).

· Help clients meet ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals.

· Ensure compliance with environmental and health and safety regulations and best practice.

· Aid clients in achieving and maintaining health and safety certifications.

· Implement ISO45001, ISO14001 and ISO 50001

· Calculate Scope 1, 2 and 3

· Support clients in achieving their environmental and health and safety objectives through continuous improvement initiatives.

· Travel to client sites to conduct environmental health and safety audits, assessments, and provide on-site health and safety and energy management solutions.

· Collaborate with clients through hybrid work arrangements, ensuring ongoing support and project follow-up.

· Provide regular project updates to the Managing Director and clients;

· Prioritise projects while balancing client expectations and project deadlines;

What education and experience are required?

· 5+ years’ relevant experience preferred.

· A third level qualification (Degree/Masters) in Environmental Health and Safety, Sustainability or a related field or related discipline.

· Proven experience in EHS assessments and systems.

· Experience with EHS reporting, sustainability metrics, and energy performance monitoring.

· Experience working in the Irish and EU environmental and planning legislative contexts.

· Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001) and CSRD.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Ability to build a strong rapport with our clients, peers and authorities on-site and on the phone.

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Excellent report writing and presentation skills.

· Highly motivated individual with strong attention to detail.

· Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and willingness to travel to client sites.

· A full clean driving licence.
