Deputy GM at Charleville Park Hotel

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy General Manager in the excellent 4* Charleville Park Hotel.

This senior role will report to the General Manager and oversee day to day operations of the hotel with particular emphasis on conference & banqueting, restaurant, room service, bar, food and beverage control & duty management functions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Produce a weekly forecast for Payroll, Sales, Food & Beverage Department and other costs required in the hotel.
  • Managing budgets and financial plans, controlling expenditure and stock control
  • Ensure the effective yield management of Food & Beverage areas, working closely with the Head Chef, Sales Manager and all HOD’s to achieve the highest possible department revenue
  • Effectively manage cost lines of Food & Beverage Department while maintaining 4 star standards throughout the Food & Beverage Departments
  • Setting and achieving sales and profit targets; in house promotions and getting the team involved
  • Ensure recruitment, training & development of the team is conducted in line with The Charleville Park Hotel Procedures and industry best practice
  • Ensure the department operates in a guest focused manner; always striving to exceed guest expectations thereby building customer and brand loyalty
  • Support the Accounts Department to produce as per an agreed timeframe, stock takes and G.P.% results for beverage sales
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, developments and changes in legislation which may impact on the Food & Beverage Department
  • Take a pro-active part in the overall operation of the hotel by contributing to management meetings & hotel development plans
  • Recruit, train and develop the key people within the Food & Beverage Departments, to enable them to operate and manage their individual departments in an efficient and professional manner
  • Aim to improve communication throughout the team and promoting good internal customer relations
  • Ensure management, duty and department roster is up to date;
  • Promoting and marketing the business internally and to the local community;
  • Ensure weekly forecasts, time point and wages are reviewed and submitted on time
  • Meeting and greeting customers;
  • Dealing with customer complaints and comments, addressing problems and troubleshooting
  • Ensuring events and conferences run smoothly;
  • Dealing with contractors and suppliers;
  • Ensuring security is effective;
  • Carrying out inspections of property and services;
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Supervising maintenance, supplies, renovations and furnishings
  • Ensuring the inside and outside of the hotel is up kept up to 4* standards at all times in relation to service appearance and maintenance.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years’ experience at HOD, F&B Manager or C&B Manager in 4* or 5* property of similar size
  • 3rd level qualification in hotel management, hospitality or related field
  • Proven track record in managing people and bringing out the best in direct reports
  • Proven ability to organize large events with focus on attention to detail
  • Commercially astute with budget management responsibility in a prior role
  • Exceptional communication skills and able to deal with multiple stakeholders at different levels in the organisation
