Quality, Health, Safety & Compliance Officer (Part-Time, Hybrid)
Location: Smarmore Castle Private Clinic, County Louth
Hours: 20 hours per week (0.5 WTE)
Salary: €25,000 - €30,000
Working Pattern: Hybrid (combination of on-site and remote working)
Reporting/Accountable to: Executive Director
Internal Partners: Nurse Lead; Medical Lead; Estates Manager; Catering Lead; Castle Craig Quality, Health, Safety & Compliance Lead

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Quality, Health, Safety & Compliance Officer to support the continued development of our governance, quality improvement and compliance systems.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding role suited to an experienced healthcare quality or compliance professional who enjoys improving systems, supporting staff and ensuring organisations operate to the highest standards.
Working closely with the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team, you will lead and coordinate the organisation's Quality Management System, Health & Safety Management System, accreditation activities, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement programme.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining Smarmore Castle's reputation as a centre of excellence within Irish healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain the organisation's Quality Management System.
- Coordinate compliance with CHKS accreditation standards.
- Maintain and develop the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Lead health and safety monitoring and management across the organisation.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits and inspections.
- Maintain organisational policies, procedures and document control systems.
- Manage organisational risk registers and support governance processes.
- Coordinate incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
- Produce quality, governance and compliance reports for senior management.
- Deliver health and safety and compliance training.
- Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and patient safety.
- Support departments in implementing quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Irish legislation and regulatory requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Third-level qualification in Health & Safety, Quality Management, Healthcare Management, Nursing, Allied Health, Science or another relevant discipline.
- Minimum three years' experience within healthcare or another regulated environment.
- Experience implementing or maintaining quality management systems.
- Experience conducting internal audits.
- Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within addiction services, mental health or residential healthcare.
- Experience with CHKS accreditation standards.
- Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualification.
- Experience of governance, risk management or healthcare compliance.
General functions
· Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families, friends and visitors at all times.
· Be conversant with and comply with the clinic’s fire precautions and procedures for evacuation and emergency resuscitation.
· Be conversant with and comply with the clinic’s Infection Control policies and procedures.
· Participate in performance appraisal and develop own objectives.
· The duties of the post holder will be reviewed from time to time.
