Chen Solicitors is a growing Dublin-based law firm and is currently developing its Immigration Department.

As part of this expansion, we are looking for an Immigration Legal Assistant / Caseworker to join our team on either a part-time or full-time basis.

We are particularly interested in candidates who combine strong organisational and client-facing skills with additional language capabilities and an interest in working with Ireland's international communities.

The Role

Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with immigration and employment permit matters;
• Supporting applications relating to visas, residence permissions, IRP and immigration status;
• Assisting with citizenship and naturalisation matters;
• Assisting with family reunification and dependent applications;
• Preparing and organising supporting documentation;
• Conducting legal and factual research;
• Drafting correspondence and preparing first drafts of applications and submissions under solicitor supervision;
• Managing case files, deadlines and client documentation;
• Communicating with clients and relevant authorities;
• Providing multilingual client support where appropriate;
• Assisting with client intake and new enquiries;
• Supporting the firm's engagement with international and multilingual communities in Ireland.

All legal work will be carried out under the supervision of a solicitor.

Languages

Fluent English is required.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are fluent in one or more additional languages, including:

• Portuguese
• Arabic
• Spanish
• French
• Polish
• Ukrainian
• Russian
• Cantonese
• Other languages widely spoken within international communities in Ireland

Candidates should clearly state their level of proficiency in each language in their application.

Experience

Previous experience in any of the following will be particularly advantageous:

• Immigration law or immigration casework;
• Employment permit applications;
• Visa or residence permission applications;
• Citizenship or naturalisation matters;
• International protection;
• Legal assistant, paralegal or caseworker work;
• Previous employment in a solicitors' practice or immigration practice;
• Legal or professional experience in another jurisdiction;
• Client-facing work within multilingual communities.

Previous Irish immigration experience is preferred but is not essential for candidates with strong transferable legal or case-management experience.

Community Engagement

As Chen Solicitors develops its multilingual services, we are particularly interested in candidates who are comfortable engaging with the communities they serve.

Depending on the candidate's interests and experience, the role may also involve:

• Developing relationships with local and professional communities;
• Supporting multilingual legal-information content;
• Assisting with social media and community outreach;
• Participating in seminars, information sessions and community events;
• Helping the firm better understand and respond to the legal needs of different international communities.

Previous experience in community engagement, social media, marketing is an advantage.

Working Arrangements

Both part-time and full-time applications are welcome.

Some work may be capable of being performed remotely. However, candidates must be available to attend our Dublin office when required.

Part-time applicants should indicate their approximate weekly availability.

A law degree or legal qualification is advantageous but not essential where the candidate has relevant immigration or casework experience.

Candidates must have the appropriate right to work in Ireland and should clearly state their current immigration/work permission status when applying.
