Technical Sales Manager / Business Development Manager
About Modutech Switchgear
Modutech Switchgear, based in Carlow, 50 minutes from Dublin, is one of Ireland's fastest-growing manufacturers of low-voltage switchgear and power distribution solutions. Serving critical infrastructure, commercial, industrial, renewable energy and data centre markets, we deliver high-quality engineered solutions that support some of the most demanding electrical projects across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Sales Manager to drive business growth, develop strategic customer relationships and identify new opportunities within our target sectors.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior leadership, the successful candidate will play a key role in expanding Modutech's market presence and securing new business opportunities across the electrical infrastructure sector.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a sales development plan aligned with company growth objectives.
- Identify and convert new opportunities within the switchgear, energy, industrial, utilities and data centre sectors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with electrical contractors, consultants, engineers, developers, OEMs and end users.
- Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to quotation, negotiation and order placement.
- Work closely with estimating and engineering teams to ensure technically robust and commercially competitive solutions are delivered.
- Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and provide regular sales forecasting and market intelligence.
- Represent Modutech at industry events, exhibitions and customer meetings.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging sectors to identify new growth opportunities.
- Support the development of long-term framework agreements and strategic partnerships.
- Contribute to the achievement of company sales targets and wider business objectives.
The Person
Applicants should demonstrate:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in business development, technical sales or account management within the electrical industry.
- Experience working for a switchgear manufacturer, electrical engineering company, power distribution provider or similar technical environment.
- Strong understanding of LV electrical infrastructure, switchgear systems and project-based sales.
- Proven ability to build relationships and secure new business opportunities.
- Experience preparing commercial proposals, quotations and tender submissions.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and a results-driven approach.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a growing team.
Desirable
- Knowledge of LV switchgear, power distribution systems, energy infrastructure or data centre electrical installations.
- Existing relationships within the Irish and UK electrical contracting, consultant or industrial sectors.
- Experience selling bespoke engineered or manufactured solutions.
- Understanding of electrical infrastructure markets.
