Security Guard – SuperValu Loughrea

SuperValu Loughrea is seeking a professional Security Guard to protect our customers, colleagues and stock while supporting a welcoming, community-focused shopping environment. You will play a key role in loss prevention, safety and store standards in a busy retail setting.

Role overview

Hours: 5 over 7 days, flexible shifts (including evenings, weekends and public holidays)

Main purpose of the role

· Provide visible, professional security presence on the shop floor.

· Protect stock and premises and prevent theft, damage and loss.

· Support a safe, orderly and positive environment for customers and staff.

Key duties and responsibilities

· Supervise store customers so that your presence acts as a deterrent to pilferage.

· Ensure that the company premises are kept secure and locked up properly when required.

· Carry out spot checks on incoming deliveries at the goods receiving area.

· Complete incident and security reports accurately and promptly.

· Monitor movement of staff and customers throughout the store and take appropriate action where necessary.

· Identify, monitor and correct any conduct or circumstances that may lead to an accident, loss or damage to company property.

· Be constantly vigilant at checkouts to ensure all goods are properly presented for payment.

· Ensure lock-up procedures are carried out correctly and sign the back sheet at end of shift.

· Be particularly vigilant at closing time, supervising all entrances and exits from the premises.

· Assist the supervisor responsible for close down to ensure all procedures are followed.

· Leave the premises with the supervisor responsible for closing.

· Observe and inform management of any irregularities or concerns.

· Store patrol and checks

· Conduct regular floor walks, including one or two visits to the public footpath at the coffee shop per shift.

· Maintain a presence at key “stationery” locations around the shop floor

· Ensure back door and gate at the delivery yard are closed and locked at 7pm each day.

What we’re looking for

· Strong awareness of safety, loss prevention and customer care.

· Calm, professional manner with the ability to handle difficult situations discreetly.

· Reliability and flexibility to work 5-over-7 shifts, including evenings and weekends.

· Good observation skills with attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.

· Experience in retail security or customer-facing roles is an advantage.

· PSA security licence (Security Guard/Guarding) or in process of obtaining licence is desirable.

· Fluent written and verbal English.
